Don Gahr Don Gahr continues his tradition of creating sculpture from materials found within walking distance of his secluded Northwestern Wisconsin home or at nearby lumber mills. As a formally taught painter, his sense of color and honed skills add a special dimension to his intuitive, magical forms. Recently the artist has produced a number of wall-mounted pieces that include multiple figures, primarily quadrupeds, lyrically making their way across imaginary landscapes. Other pieces feature freestanding deer, horses and exotic birds in a variety of poses, colors and scale. Don Gahr has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He has exhibited extensively
throughout the region including the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the
Rochester Art Center, Rochester, MN, and the University of Nebraska,
Lincoln. His work is included in many prestigious public and private
collections, among them the Minneapolis Children's Medical center, Lutheran
Brotherhood, Minneapolis, and Medtronics Corporation, St. Paul.
